At the National Cathedral in Washington, several former presidents, lawmakers, and prominent public figures gathered to pay tribute to Cheney. He was a highly influential yet controversial political leader, well-known for his strong opposition to Trump.

Dick Cheney, who previously served as a Wyoming congressman and U.S. defense secretary, was a key figure behind the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq when he was vice president. He passed away on November 3 at the age of 84.

Cheney strongly opposed Donald Trump’s false claims about winning the 2020 election and also condemned the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump’s supporters. For the 2024 presidential race, he supported Democrat Kamala Harris instead of Trump.
